In art 4 I explored new mediums of art. I introduced myself to oil paint and learned how to use it to my advantage. I worked with acrylic paint also which I was reintroduced to. I definitely like both oil and acrylic, but should be used in different ways. I will definitely do more prismacolor pieces in the future. Honestly I feel like my sense of creativity has diminished and I could have a lot better in this class. I have realized how much I like prismacolor more than painting and I wish I had done more prismacolor pieces. I did enjoy this class being with other great artists inspired my creative process. my 2 favorite pieces from art 4 was my prismacolor blueberries and the oil paint train car cabin. I hope to do some oil and acrylic paint pieces in my AP portfolio. I want to grow from this class by being able to have more free expression in my art work. In my opinion my blueberries drawing was my best prismacolor drawing I've ever done which I am happy for and i hope to continue making more good art that I like.

Ordinary to ExtraordanaryI brainstormed this idea by finding aspects of of how everyday life visually emotes feeling. I found two themes; city and forrest. I chose these two themes because both has the potential to show depth in light and imperfections which create harmony in the two. Some artistic challenges I faced in creating this piece of art was creating depth in light in the city. I found that showing high value changes in one side of the buildings bring out color that pops. I was successful in showing contrast in the city from the forrest by painting brighter hues at the bottom of the buildings which represented street lights and ground lights which contrasted with darker shades at the top. I learned quick techniques in oil paint in this project and how many different hues make up one general hue, I learned this while texturing the green bushes and how I included blues, reds, and yellows to bring out the green color. I will include Color texturing in future projects and difference in colors. I grew as an artist in this project by expressing more freedom in making an image in my mind and putting it on canvas.

Acrylic self portraitFor this self portrait I wanted to showcase light and dark values in the face and not just one shade and value. The challenges I faced In the process of making this painting, were making accurate proportions of the face and the values to go with it. Getting the value changes correct was a difficulty for me. The way I came about painting this portrait was messy but painterlistic. Instead of working on a section at a time i would put down colors freely and blend In later. I would go about a future acrylic project differently by focusing on proportions first. I feel I have grown as an artist in this project by learning acrylic blending and fixing proportions correctly.

For this drawing the theme is reflections. I wanted to reflect my love for aviation and plane spotting. I chose binoculars because it was what i would use plane spotting and it has reflective properties. challenges I faced in this project were blending colors to perfection because it took so much time to do so. My process in this project started from details in the center and moving outwards putting large amount of color at once and slowly blending together. Challenges included completing grass area and finish blending the sky. I feel that the details and colors in the binoculars were my greatest success. In this project I learned to pay attention to small details in Prismacolor and taking your time in small places makes the best art. I felt like I learned how to use Prismacolor better for future projects by focusing on art with smaller details in smaller spaces. I grew as an artist by focusing on colors and details more closely.
